Clarkson is the right choice for a Multicultural Millennium!!!

Ottawa, September 10, 1999 -- The Canadian Ethnocultural Council welcomes the appointment of Adrienne Clarkson as Governor General of Canada.

President Emmanuel Dick has expressed his support of Ms. Clarkson's appointment stating that she represents the embodiment of a Canada made rich by its diverse people. "We believe that this is the right choice. The selection of Ms. Clarkson recognizes that all Canadians, regardless of their ancestry, have a full and equal place in Canadian life and that they can attain the highest position the country."

OTTAWA, le 10 septembre 1999 -- Le Conseil Ethnoculturel du Canada est heureux d'apprendre la nomination d'Adrienne Clarkson au poste de Gouverneur Général du Canada.

Le président Emmanuel Dick a exprimé son support envers la nouvelle affectation de Madame Clarkson en affirmant qu'elle représente la richesse du Canada créée par la diversité multiculturelle. "Nous croyons que c'est le bon choix. La sélection de Madame Clarkson reconnait que tous les Canadiens, peu importe leur ascendance, ont une place à part entière et égale dans la vie Canadienne et c'est pour cela qu'ils peuvent atteindre la plus haute position du pays".
